When you play a sound

In a room…

 

What is the energetic trajectory, the full trajectory of the transaction of playing a sound?

 

Consider 

 

Where in your body starts the impulse for playing that sound?

Is it a reaction to something happening outside, like a reaction to a sound you hear in

the room, either played by a fellow musician or a sound generated by the physical room,

like a crack of a door or the sound of a radiator or air conditioner?

To make a sound, one has to activate the body and move and translate an energy from

the body to an instrument, for it to vibrate and produce a sound.

Do you pre-hear that sound or rather is that sound produced a byproduct of a semi-

automated body response or seemingly autonomous impulse?

Maybe pre-hearing a sound is in and by itself part of the semi-automated because

learned and ingrained responses of the craft of your musicianship?

You have made a sound. Struck a chord. Hit a note. 

The sound is out!

It travels through the room

touching and co vibrating with all that is in you and that room.

Imagine it coming back to you.

And As IF

PLASTICMAN

a 50-ties x-man cartoon character with plastic limbs that could throw his hand out

to grab something way out there, and with the elastic quality of its limbs, the hand

would return to the body

 

So your sound comes back to your body after having reached out energetically

into the room.

Let the sound as entity, its vibration and new information touch you.

You can choose this sound coming forth as a reaction to the receiving of the first sound.

Hard to imagine it having no relationship to the first sound at all, yet feel free to explore

making zero degree returns to neutrality, if such state in reality ever exists.

REPEAT THIS CYCLE   ad lib (as much as you like making a minimum of 20 different

sounds after having received them fully).
